Crutchlow has failed to score any points in his appearances so far this year. At the Assen Grand Prix, he narrowly missed out on the points, finishing 16th.

Crutchlow has recorded three Grand Prix victories and 19 podium finishes in his MotoGP career – three of them at the Sachsenring. He secured his last podium at the German Grand Prix in 2019 with a third-place finish – it was his penultimate top-three result in MotoGP.

Johann Zarco sustained injuries to his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments and his medial meniscus, as well as a minor fracture to his fibula, in the devastating crash in Barcelona. The Frenchman is currently working on his comeback.
