Marc Marquez on the published photo: Wanted to put an end to the speculation

Following his spectacular performance in Aragon, where Marc Marquez secured a one-two finish, he is keen to fight for victory again at Misano. In 2025, the Ducati factory rider won the Grand Prix at the Italian circuit, but retired from the sprint race. In total, Marquez has secured six GP victories in the premier class at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli so far – so the circuit certainly suits him. “It’s not a track like Aragon, where I scored 37 points on my last two visits. But we’ll try to give 100 per cent and find out where the Aprilia riders stand. Last year, Marco was very strong here throughout the whole weekend,”

The Spaniard has had mixed fortunes in recent Grands Prix – finishes of 6th and 7th at Assen were followed by a one-two at the Sachsenring. At Silverstone, he had to settle for 9th and 7th place. At Aragon, he won both races again – but consistency has been lacking. Will his aim for the final nine Grands Prix this year be to remain consistently at the front? “The key to the remaining races will simply be to be faster. Because if you’re the fastest, you have more chances. But to do that, you also have to take greater risks,” the 33-year-old made clear. “At the moment, it looks as though some riders are relying more on consistency, whilst others want to be the fastest. And if you’re the fastest, everything is easier. We’re trying to find a way to ride well on all circuits.”

Marc Marquez: “I was tired of answering the same question over and over again”

A few days ago, Marquez posted a shirtless photo on social media in which the extent of his injury woes is clearly visible. The numerous operations on his right arm and shoulder have left their mark. Why did he post the photo now, of all times? “I already said in Aragon that I’m a bit tired of answering the same question over and over again. I’ve learnt in my career that when there are questions and rumours, the easiest thing to do is to be honest. That’s the best way to put an end to the speculation,” Marquez explained. “I’ve shown what my situation really is, and my doctor has spoken about the extent of the impact of the injury I sustained in Indonesia in 2025. There’s nothing more to say on that now. I’m now trying to stay focused and fight for the championship with what I’ve got.”

The constant questions about his physical condition had sapped his energy. That is why he made the personal decision to publish the photo. “If I want to fight for the championship, I need all my energy on the track,” emphasised MM93. “That was my strategy and now I’m more relaxed. If anyone asks me about my arm now, I’ll say that I’ve already answered that after Aragon.”

Last year, Marc Marquez was involved in a close battle with Aprilia ace Marco Bezzecchi at the Misano Grand Prix. Will there be a repeat of that this weekend? “Last year’s race was very tough. Marco was able to challenge me right up until the final lap,” the Ducati rider recalled. “He’ll be quick right from the first free practice session, and I’ll try to stay close to him. But it looks as though he’ll be even stronger this year.”
