MotoGP 2027: The dates for the pre-season tests with the 850cc bikes

In 2027, MotoGP will enter a new era as the new rules come into force. Engine capacity will be reduced from 1,000 to 850 cc, all suspension height adjustment systems (devices) will be abolished, and aerodynamics will be scaled back. In addition, there will be a switch from Michelin to Pirelli tyres.

The 2026 MotoGP season is still in full swing. However, the dates for the pre-season tests were already announced on 2 September. The shakedown test – for test riders and rookies – will take place on 29 and 30 January at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. This will be followed on 31 January and 1 February by the official Sepang test for all riders.

The MotoGP paddock will then head straight to Buriram in Thailand, where the second pre-season test will take place on 6 and 7 February. The fact that the two tests are only a few days apart means a lot of stress for the riders and teams. Added to this is the fact that the 2027 season-opening event is taking place on the other side of the world, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The beach party in Brazil is set to take place on 21 February.
