Setback: Ogura (Aprilia) forced to miss the Aragon GP due to injury

As Trackhouse Racing announced on 26 August, Aprilia rider Ai Ogura sustained an injury to his left hand whilst training in Japan. According to the team, it was determined upon his arrival in Europe ahead of the race weekend at Aragon that the fracture near his left thumb required surgery. The operation is due to take place this Thursday.

A setback for Ogura in the title race

Due to the injury, Ogura will have to miss the Aragon GP, which is a major setback for the fast Japanese rider. The 25-year-old is in the thick of the title race in the 2026 MotoGP season. He currently lies third in the World Championship standings, 37 points behind his Aprilia team-mate Jorge Martin.

Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori will stand in for Ai Ogura in Spain this weekend. It is uncertain whether Ogura will be able to get back on his RS-GP at Misano in September; this will depend on how his recovery progresses.
