Live stream of the European Speedway Championships in Güstrow: Will Kai Huckenbeck keep his medal hopes alive?

Kai Huckenbeck missed out on direct qualification for the final by a single point at the opening round of the Speedway European Championship in Grünberg (Zielona Góra) and was subsequently eliminated in the last-chance heat. Nevertheless, the rider from Werlte is in a promising fourth place overall with twelve points, just two points behind the leaders Leon Madsen and Patryk Dudek, and one point behind Michael Jepsen Jensen in third. Last year, Huckenbeck competed as a wildcard rider in Güstrow, finishing second and topping the scoring charts with 16 points – a result he would just as much like to repeat as Leon Madsen, who won the event back then.

Adam Ellis arrives in Güstrow with plenty of room for improvement, having fallen short of his potential at the season opener with just three points. The 30-year-old Englishman, who was born in France, is looking forward to the visit to Güstrow, where he achieved his best result in 2023 with seven points. “It’s a unique stadium and there aren’t many tracks like it,” said the Briton. “There are often thrilling battles there, so both the fans and us riders are looking forward to racing there. The fans live for this sport and there’s always a great atmosphere in the stands – I can’t wait for this round to begin.”

Just 16 years old, Tyler Haupt is set to take part in his biggest international race yet, starting as the day’s wildcard. Women’s world champion Hannah Grunwald and Erik Pudel are on standby as track reserves.
