Mercedes-AMG Motorsport is returning to Macau after a year’s break. From 19 to 22 November, the FIA GT World Cup will take place at the Guia Circuit – one of the most prestigious races in international GT racing. Three Mercedes-AMG GT3s will be on the starting grid, fielded by the customer racing teams Craft-Bamboo Racing and Tigani Motorsport. The driver line-up for the world’s most famous GT3 street race comprises Mercedes-AMG Performance drivers Lucas Auer and Maro Engel, alongside Adderly Fong. With nine victories from 18 GT3 events to date and five manufacturers’ titles, Mercedes-AMG is the most successful manufacturer in Macau.

On the 6.120-kilometre Macau street circuit, high-speed and low-speed corners alternate with technically demanding sections. Precision and concentration are crucial over the entire race distance. Lucas Auer, who is racing for Tigani Motorsport, is taking on this challenge for the first time in a GT3 car. The 31-year-old previously competed in Formula 3 in Macau from 2012 to 2014. In his last outing in 2014, the Austrian finished in second place.

Maro Engel, on the other hand, is one of the most experienced and successful GT3 drivers in Macau. His record: ten appearances, four victories. In 2014 and 2022, he won the Macau GT Cup, whilst in 2015 and 2024 he triumphed in the FIA GT World Cup. Together with Edoardo Mortara (ITA), Maro Engel is therefore the record winner of the GT races in Macau. He has also secured three further podium finishes: a second place in 2018 and two third places in 2016 and 2017. In 2026, he will compete for Craft-Bamboo Racing, aiming to further build on his track record in what will be his eleventh start.

Adderly Fong will also be racing for Craft-Bamboo Racing and brings a wealth of Macau experience to the team. The Hong Kong-based racing driver made his debut in Formula 3 at the Guia Circuit in 2010 and contested his first GT3 race in Macau in 2014. Most recently, in 2025, Adderly Fong competed in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 and finished 13th.

Comments from those involved

Stefan Wendl, Head of Customer Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport: “We are delighted to be back on the starting grid at the prestigious FIA GT World Cup in Macau – with a very strong line-up. My thanks go to our customer racing teams, Craft-Bamboo Racing and Tigani Motorsport, who are making this campaign possible. Macau is both a highlight and a challenge. Since last year, torque sensors have been mandatory at the FIA GT World Cup. As we lack experience with them on the Guia Circuit so far, we are paying particular attention to preparation and simulation work. Mercedes-AMG Motorsport has a successful history in Macau, and we naturally want to build on that.”

Maro Engel, Craft-Bamboo Racing: “I’m really looking forward to competing again at this fantastic event in Macau. In the past, I’ve celebrated great successes there alongside Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. The circuit demands everything from a driver; you have to be incredibly precise – I love this particular challenge because, as a driver, you can make the difference. As always, qualifying will be hugely important for a successful weekend: everyone gives it their all and pushes to the absolute limit, because your starting position is crucial in Macau. At the same time, there’s always an element of luck involved here. It’s still a while away, but I’m already looking forward to the special atmosphere and the fantastic support from the fans.”

Lucas Auer, Tigani Motorsport: “I’m absolutely delighted to be returning to Macau after so many years. Macau is simply a massive event and something special for every driver. That makes me all the more excited about my first GT3 outing at the Guia Circuit in November. I’ll be making the most of the time until then to prepare as well as possible – with simulator sessions as well as detailed video and data analysis.”
