New 24h Nürburgring Series attracts entrants with favourable terms

The initial key details for participants in the new 24h Nürburgring Series have been finalised: With affordable entry fees and a fee structure tailored to the financial capabilities of the various teams, the ADAC Nordrhein, as the organiser, is making it clear that professional teams, ambitious amateurs and grassroots sportspeople are equally welcome. With the Polo Cup, a genuine entry-level series has even already confirmed its participation for the 2027 season. “Of course, the top teams with their GT3s are often the focus of media coverage and TV broadcasts – that’s no secret,” explains Walter Hornung, sporting director at ADAC Nordrhein. “But endurance racing, particularly on the Nordschleife, thrives on the battles within the different classes. That’s why GT4s, cup cars and production-based touring cars have been an integral part of our series for decades – and that will, of course, remain the case in the new 24h Nürburgring Series.”

Tiered entry fees support grassroots teams

Registration for teams and drivers will open on 1 September 2026. In the inaugural year, the fees are tiered: until 31 October 2026, drivers pay €200 and teams pay €800 per car. Until 31 January 2027, the entry fees will be €400 and €1,250 respectively, and from the start of February, €600 and €1,500 respectively. The registration deadline for teams is 19 March 2027. Guest entrants are generally permitted, but, as in other series, they pay higher entry fees. There are three entry fee categories for each individual event. For example, the entry fee for the 24h Prologue, the ADAC Eifel Race and the ADAC 1,000 km Race is (SP9, SP-X, SP11 and SP-PRO) is 5,800 euros; for the larger SP classes (SP10, SP8T, SP8, SP7 and SP6) and the more powerful Cup classes (Cup2 and Cup3) at €2,700, and at €1,800 for all other classes – such as the BMW Cups, the new Polo Cup and production-based cars.

The ideal entry-level class: the Polo Cup

With the inclusion of the Polo Cup class, the 24h Nürburgring Series will gain an attractive entry-level class with its own cup standings from 2027. Initiated by Thorsten Willems, the Cup stands for affordable touring car racing with a level playing field and is aimed in particular at young drivers and ambitious amateur racing enthusiasts looking to get started in endurance racing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The car used will be the VW Polo GTI Cup, with around 300 PS, which places the focus on driving skill. By being integrated into the 24 Hours of Nürburgring series, participants benefit from professional event structures and can compete on the 24-hour circuit – comprising the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife – under the same conditions as the established teams.
