Lionspeed GP loses GT World Challenge Sprint championship lead following penalty

Bastian Buus and Ricardo Feller finished the first race of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup in fifth place. This saw the Porsche duo take the lead in the championship standings after the first race.

However, the Porsche team’s joy was short-lived, as Lionspeed GP were penalised after the race, resulting in them losing the points from the race as well as the lead in the championship standings.

Buus and Feller were subsequently given a drive-through penalty, which was converted into a 29-second time penalty. The reason for the penalty is that Buus unfastened his seatbelt on the track before the mandatory pit stop, which is prohibited for safety reasons under the sporting regulations.
