The White Angel for Fly and Help team, led by team principal Bernd Albrecht, is switching to the 55th ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring and will be competing in the legendary endurance race in the ‘Green Hell’ with the #13 Audi TT 2R from Muggianu-Turbo. Alongside the team principal, car owner Peter Muggianu (55, Gelting) will also be getting behind the wheel. It is as yet unclear who will complete the quartet of drivers.

Porsche and Kurt Ecke Motorsport part ways

After finishing in the top 40 and taking third place in class with the #13 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the team was delighted. However, the effort and running costs involved with the Cup car were immense, and a decision had to be made within the team. Kurt Ecke was impressed by the harmony and teamwork within the squad, but was not impressed by the way the competitors behaved towards one another on the track during the race and decided not to compete any further. Andreas Szepansky, who provided the team with the Cup 911, must also reassess the situation. Consequently, a joint decision was reached that continuing with the plans for 2027 in this way would not make sense for a voluntary project.

Team boss Bernd Albrecht explains: “Paths cross and then go their separate ways; that’s life. I can relate to Kurt and Andreas’s decisions and understand both of them. I’m an avowed Porsche fan, but I think we wouldn’t have stood out next year amongst the multitude of different 992 models – which is, however, hugely important to us. The fact that we are now reorienting ourselves does not, however, rule out the possibility that we might compete a third time in the future with a Porsche and Kurt Ecke’s team. I would like to thank everyone who supported us in 2026 from the bottom of my heart!”

The new car and the new drivers

With the #13 Audi TT 2R, based on the 2015 Audi TT Cup model and featuring a wide-body design, White Angel for Fly and Help has a reliable and particularly eye-catching car for the 2027 two-day, round-the-clock marathon. The Audi, with 350 PS and an extended body kit, is expected to compete in the SP3T class for cars with engines up to 2 litres and turbochargers, sporting the familiar White Angel for Fly and Help livery. Car owner Peter Muggianu, who has himself been active and successful in endurance racing and at the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring for many years, has already been confirmed as the second driver. Muggianu brings with him the relevant expertise and a car that is in top condition. Interesting discussions are already underway regarding the two remaining driver seats with drivers who have previously strengthened the team.

Since 2021, White Angel for Fly and Help has raised funds for 19 schools on behalf of the FLY&HELP Foundation and aims to build at least two or three more by the start of the 2027 race. FLY&HELP, led by round-the-world traveller and foundation founder Reiner Meutsch, has built over 1,200 schools in developing countries since its foundation in 2009, all of which receive ongoing support. Currently, around three more schools are being added every week. Meutsch covers all administrative costs himself, meaning that every euro donated goes directly to the children.

The 55th ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring will take place from 27 to 30 May 2027. Following the record attendance of over 350,000 visitors in 2026, countless fans will once again experience the world’s toughest endurance race – both in person and via livestream – to mark the 100th anniversary of the legendary race track in the Eifel.

Comments from the team:

Kurt Ecke, driver of the #13 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in 2026: “Racing with White Angel for Fly and Help is a unique experience, and I’ve always enjoyed competing for a good cause. Personally, however, I now find the atmosphere amongst the drivers on the track too intense and a far cry from the sporting enjoyment of the past. As team principal, I’m on the road all year round travelling the world, and the preparations for the 24-hour race took up a lot of time. Consequently, I had to make a decision, though this doesn’t rule out the possibility that we might compete together again in the future. Thanks to Bernd, his team and everyone who supports the project!”

Peter Muggianu, driver of the Audi TT 2R #13 in 2027 and car owner: “I’m really looking forward to lining up on the starting grid in 2027 alongside Bernd Albrecht and the White Angel for Fly and Help team. For me, this is a fantastic opportunity to combine my passion for motorsport – and for technology in particular – with a project that goes beyond mere racing. The Audi TT 2R is a car into which a great deal of heart and soul and technical work has gone. I’m all the more excited to be racing it alongside the team at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. It’s particularly wonderful that, through our involvement, we can also support the valuable work of the Fly&Help Foundation!”

Bernd Albrecht, Team Principal of White Angel for Fly and Help and driver: “The decision to change our race car was an obvious one. With the Cup 911, we had a reliable car, but one that barely attracted any attention. The wide-body Audi TT 2R #13 will, just like the Viper or the Beetle before it, be a one-off and a real standout on the grid – exactly what our project needs. Peter has been enthusiastic and motivated by the idea right from our first conversation. I believe we’ve found the right partner and driver in him for 2027. We hope to announce shortly who we’ll be sharing the cockpit with. Talks are already underway! From now on, the concrete planning begins and there’s a lot of work ahead for everyone. But we’ll continue to passionately raise funds for Fly & Help through our participation in the race, all in the name of a good cause. The many pledges from supporters to continue standing by our side are fantastic, and I’d like to thank my entire network for this!”
