When Go Eleven opted for Lorenzo Baldassarri in November 2025, the Ducati team had just come through two difficult years with Andrea Iannone. Although the former MotoGP rider attracted a great deal of media attention and also delivered good results, the Italian’s diva-like behaviour was difficult for team members to put up with.
With Baldassarri, a calm character joined the team, who also impressed on the track by finishing third at Phillip Island straight off the mark. The 29-year-old established himself as a solid top-six rider, with results fluctuating up and down. Plans for a second season together were in the works from an early stage. On Tuesday, Go Eleven announced the contract extension with ‘Balda’.
“The bond we’ve built with Balda is fantastic; the harmony in the pits and the mutual trust in our work were decisive factors in our firm belief that this partnership should continue – anything else would have made no sense,” explained team manager Denis Sacchetti. “He impressed us right from the first race of the year – and I think he has won over a lot of people with his performances on the track. We are convinced that, with a year’s experience under our belts, we have a truly exciting 2027 season ahead of us. We are thrilled and highly motivated!”
Go Eleven’s team owner is Gianni Ramello, who didn’t need any convincing about Baldassarri. “I believed in him right from the start, and he has repaid that trust with one of our best WorldSBK seasons ever. There was no way we could let him go after just one year,” emphasised Ramello. “I’m sure he’ll improve even further in another year with us; the team atmosphere is wonderful – calm and characterised by genuine team spirit – which is due not least to Lorenzo’s outstanding personality.”
Since 2021, Baldassarri has ridden for a different team every year, switching back and forth between the Supersport and Superbike World Championships as well as Moto2. A second year in the same environment and on the same bike is a stroke of luck for him.
“We’re continuing with our project, and I’m very pleased about that,” said the 2022 Supersport World Championship runner-up, with a sense of relief. “I was coming out of a difficult period where I lacked both confidence and results – due to the change of team, bike and racing class – but Go Eleven believed in me, and we’ve achieved great things this year. There are major challenges ahead; we now have a solid base set-up for every track, so we can go into every race weekend fully prepared.”
All but confirmed: Ducati Team Go Eleven with two bikes – and Danilo Petrucci?; thanks to sponsor Pata, these plans are taking shape for 2027. Company boss Remo Gobbi will significantly expand his commitment and will also cover the second rider’s salary. The favourite for the second Ducati V4R is Alessandro Delbianco, who successfully defended his Italian Championship title last weekend at Vallelunga with a hat-trick of wins. Talks are also underway with Danilo Petrucci.
