Engstler Lamborghini loses pole position at the Salzburgring

The LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler’s delight at Felix Hirsiger’s pole position in the second race of the ADAC GT Masters at the Salzburgring was short-lived. The team’s Lamborghini Huracán GT3 was disqualified after setting a commanding fastest lap time. The team breached the ADAC GT Masters’ parc fermé regulations.

The race stewards received a report from the race director regarding the Engstler Lamborghini. They heard the competitor’s account, reviewed the video footage and were able to establish that the car with start number #63 had been raised using the lifting equipment during the second qualifying session and had subsequently returned to the track.

The race stewards established that the car had completed a timed lap during qualifying and that an official lap time had been recorded for this lap and displayed on the official timing screens.

The team has therefore breached regulations 23.1, 33.6 and 45.1 of the ADAC GT Masters; the Lamborghini has been excluded from qualifying and must start the race from the back of the grid. Kiano Blum will therefore start the race from pole position in the Haupt Racing Team Ford, followed by Colin Bönighausen in the razoon Porsche and Fabian Dybionka in the second Mustang.
