BMW victory at the Sachsenring: Marco Wittmann triumphs

Marco Wittmann’s first victory at the Sachsenring. The two-time DTM champion celebrated his second consecutive win in the Schubert Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, thereby making up valuable ground in the title race and now occupying third place in the championship standings.

Second place went to Jules Gounon in the WINWARD Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3. The Mercedes-AMG works driver was just 0.450 seconds behind the winning BMW.

Thomas Preining completes the podium and, in the Manthey Porsche, extends his lead at the top of the standings.

The safety car was deployed on the opening lap. Badtian Buus, driving the Land-Motorsport Porsche in the Omega, spun and became stuck in the gravel trap. After being recovered, the Dane was allowed to continue the race. Both Abt Lamborghinis also collided – spelling the end for Luca Engstler, who parked his car in the pits. Due to the safety car phase, the race was extended by two laps.

Whilst Buus was making his way back up the field, he suffered a slow puncture and headed for the pits for a tyre change.
