“Go Trabi Go!” – On 12 September 2026, Red Bull will be taking 50 customised Trabant teams on an extraordinary rally through Western Saxony. Rather than the fastest times, it’s all about creativity, team spirit and driving fun – culminating in an exclusive lap of the Sachsenring as part of the DTM weekend.

The Red Bull ‘Rennpappe’ won’t be the only ‘Ostalgie’-themed highlight at the DTM event at the Sachsenring. The ADAC Historic Cup Ost will also be competing at the Sachsenring. The ADAC Historic Cup Ost comprises separate racing series for historic formula cars and historic touring cars from Eastern European motorsport.

A cult car meets a cult race track. The Trabant remains one of Germany’s best-known cars to this day and is closely associated with Saxony. The ‘Red Bull Rennpappe’ combines a passion for this iconic East German car with an extraordinary rally around the Sachsenring – a venue where motoring history and motorsport have been at home for decades. A special highlight awaits participants and spectators during the DTM weekend: whilst the DTM grid is forming, 50 Trabants will complete an exclusive lap of the Sachsenring, creating a striking contrast between the iconic historic car and modern GT racing.

Skill, creativity and teamwork take centre stage across six varied special stages. Victory is not determined by the fastest time, but by the highest number of points. We are looking for creatively designed vehicles that demonstrate ingenuity. An expert jury will award the best Trabi team with the ‘golden racing cardboard’.
