6 Hours of São Paulo: First provisional entry list for the FIA WEC announced

From 10 to 12 July, the World Endurance Championship will be holding the fourth round of the 2026 season in São Paulo, Brazil. The FIA WEC had previously raced there from 2012 to 2014, but then took a break. It made a comeback in 2024. Since then, races have been held regularly again at the ‘Autódromo José Carlos Pace’ circuit in Interlagos. A preliminary entry list for the event has now been announced. As expected, it comprises 35 cars – 17 Hypercars and 18 LMGT3 cars.

There aren’t many changes to the entry list. Alex Lynn will not be driving the Cadillac V-Series.R alongside Norman Nato and Will Stevens in Brazil either. The Briton recently underwent surgery on his neck. He was replaced by Louis Delétraz at Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans. In fact, Lynn has not yet competed in a single WEC race in 2026. There are also rumours in the paddock that he is set to switch to another manufacturer.

Aston Martin will once again field two-driver line-ups at Interlagos. Tom Gamble and Harry Tincknell, as well as Alex Riberas and Marco Soerensen, will form the two-driver pairs in the two Valkyries. Apart from that, all the other Hypercars are fielded as three-driver teams. Is this the start of a reversal in the trend? In the recent past, trios were the norm. However, more and more manufacturers had subsequently begun fielding duos. In 2025, for example, there were seven duos competing in the Hypercar class in Brazil. In 2026, there are now just three duos.

In the LMGT3 class, too, the field remains stable in terms of the number of cars. Eighteen cars from the nine manufacturers – Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Lexus, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche – are taking part (with two cars per manufacturer). In the Heart of Racing Team’s Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3, Kobe Pauwels will be driving alongside Jonny Adam and Gray Newell, just as he did at the season opener in Imola. Eduardo Barrichello is actually the regular driver in this seat. However, the Brazilian is competing in the IMSA at Mosport and must therefore miss his home race.

Nicky Catsburg is also competing in the IMSA series. As a result, Jonny Edgar and Ben Keating will be driving TF Sport’s Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R alongside Nicolás Varrone from Argentina. Catsburg/Edgar/Keating won the LMGT3 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June. At the classic race at La Sarthe, Esteban Masson drove an LMP2. At Interlagos, he will once again be teaming up with Tom van Rompuy and Hadrien David in the Akkodis ASP Team’s Lexus RC F LMGT3. The FIA WEC has now published the provisional entry list for the 6 Hours of São Paulo.
