Lewis Hamilton/Ferrari backtracks after criticism: “Not my best side”

Lewis Hamilton spoke plainly after the entertaining Dutch Grand Prix: “My aim is to lead Ferrari to the World Championship. If you want to win, you have to do things like that (Hamilton is referring to a position swap, M.B.). That’s certainly what the others do. We definitely need to discuss this.”

The seven-time Formula 1 champion was not happy with how the Ferrari pit crew acted – or rather, failed to act. During the race, Lewis demanded over the radio: “I’m faster than Leclerc, my tyres are better.” Translation: Let me past Charles, for goodness’ sake!

Ferrari wanted to bring Leclerc in at that point, but Charles wasn’t up for it; he stayed out two laps longer than planned. Hamilton commented on this heatedly over the radio: “We’re just wasting time here!”

A short while later, Hamilton doubled down: “What a fabulous way to waste time – great work, lads!”

In the meantime, the 41-year-old Briton has had a bit of time to reflect and has now spoken out on his social media as follows.
