Eenrum (NL): Dave Meijerink wins ahead of world champion Zach Wajtknecht

At the ‘Master of Grasstrack’ in Eenrum, situated in the Dutch province of Groningen, the dynamic organisers MC Eenrum & Omstreken had assembled a field of 12 sidecar teams, including Markus Brandhofer/Bridget Meijerink, Ole Möller/Imani Hazekamp and Achim Neuendorf/Johannes Schnaitter. The weather, track conditions and spectator turnout were excellent. As always, there were some thrilling races to watch in the sidecar class. In the solo class, the focus was on a three-way battle between Zach Wajtknecht, Dave Meijerink and Jesse Mustonen.

Dave Meijerink defeated world champion Zach Wajtknecht

The International Solo class took place without any German riders taking part. After the heats, long-track world champion Zach Wajtknecht from Saltford in the county of Somerset in south-west Great Britain was level on 17 points with Jesse Mustonen from Varkaus in eastern Finland.

‘Cooperman’ Paul Cooper (16 points), the Dane Jacob Bukhave and Dave Meijerink (both on 14 points) were therefore also qualified for the all-deciding A final. However, the Dutchman was unlucky to suffer a mechanical failure in his second heat.

In the B final, the young Frenchman Noah Urda came out on top ahead of the Dutchman William Kruit. The higher-ranked Dane Jacob Bukhave finished only third here and was eliminated, as were Jordan Dubernard (F), Niek Meijerink (NL) and the Briton Max Perry. In the A final, Dave Meijerink turned the tables and finished ahead of Zach Wajtknecht. Jesse Mustonen took third place ahead of Paul Cooper, William Kruit and Noah Urda.

Comblon/Fourcade secure overall victory via the B final

After the heats in the pairs class, the French pair Jerome Lespinasse/Lauryna Faget and Markus Brandhofer/Bridget Meijerink from AMC Haunstetten were level on 18 points. This meant that both mixed pairs had already qualified for the A final. The same applied to the fast British pair Mitch Godden/Paul Smith and Remi Valladon/Jonathan Bertrand from France.

Guillaume Comblon and his co-driver Dylan Fourcade from MC Marmande joined them in first place via the B final, and Ole Möller from MSC Nordhastedt Nordseeküste, with his Dutch co-driver Imani Hazekamp, also qualified for the final by finishing second in the B final. They finished ahead of Achim Neuendorf and co-driver Johannes Schnaitter from MSC Berghaupten. A fine achievement for the German-Dutch team.

In the A final, Comblon and Fourcade showed who was boss. They actually defeated the favourites, the British pair Godden and Smith, who in turn had left Lespinasse and Faget, and Brandhofer and Meijerink, behind them. Valladon and Bertrand finished fifth ahead of Möller and Hazekamp.
