Euro Moto Nürburgring: Penalty list for the penultimate round – mostly minor offences

Following the spate of fines at the Euro Moto weekend in Assen, the Netherlands – where fines were handed out to participants on over 40 occasions – things were almost tranquil at the penultimate Euro Moto weekend at the Nürburgring, with just 12 fines issued.

Once again in the Eifel, the usual classic was the white line at the end of the pit lane – one that you should definitely avoid crossing, but which seems to exert a magical pull on some riders. Twin Cup rider Dennis Preißler got off with a warning. The same went for Paul Fröde, the leader of the Pro Superstock 1000 Cup.

Kawasaki Cup rider Jens Blang was dealt a harsher blow. He was made to serve a double long lap during the race after forgetting the required tyre stickers in the first qualifying session. Kawasaki Cup rider Oliver-Jon Beier competed in Race 2 without tyre stickers. He must complete his double long lap at the next race. Sportbike rider Kiyano Veijer had to serve a long lap after causing a crash in the second qualifying session. BMW rider Marc Neumann once again had to complete a double long lap. He had made a false start in the first race of the Pro Superstock 1000 Cup. Ouri Bikkems suffered the same fate. He finished third in the first race, but in the second he was penalised for a false start and had to complete a double long lap. It was a false start and a double long lap for Ben Kugler from the Kawasaki Cup.

Even more long laps

Julius Ilmberger was handed two long laps in the Pro Superstock 1000 Cup for failing to line up correctly on his starting grid position in Race 1. The same penalty, but for a different offence, was handed to Kawasaki Cup rider Felix Kauertz. He had caused a crash in Race 1 and was penalised for it.

Guest rider Lucy Michel from the Euro Moto Sportbike class had travelled to the Nürburgring at the last minute after work. The World Championship rider had missed the riders’ briefing and had to pay 50 euros to the DMSB. Luca Göttlicher from the Euro Moto Supersport class had his first free practice session cancelled. He had failed to present his equipment, such as his helmet and leathers, during technical scrutineering. On top of that, he received a warning.

The riders from the Euro Moto Superbike class behaved themselves and got away without a fine at the Nürburgring. The round of penalties continues for the last time this year with the Euro Moto finale at the Hockenheimring at the end of September.
