Schleizer Dreieck: Jähnig and Beinlich race, Alt saws up tree trunk

The Euro Moto had a break last weekend. However, the MSC Schleizer Dreieck did not miss the opportunity to celebrate their usual race weekend on the natural race track. Following the withdrawal of the former IDM, which is now competing as Euro Moto, the whole thing was just one size smaller. Nevertheless, two Euro Moto riders, Jan-Ole Jähnig from Team GERT56 and Chris Beinlich from Beinlich Racing Team, were at the start.

In previous years, Julian Puffe was always there. This year, however, the rider from Schleiz decided not to make an appearance on the track and instead treated himself to the Linkin Park concert in Munich's Olympic Stadium.

Old under the bonnet

Florian Alt was also at the start near Schleiz. Not in a leather suit, however, but in a fine suit. Alt had already been married in a civil ceremony last year. Now Alt and his bride Kimberly said "I do" in church. And since the bride is from Schleiz, there was no way around a corresponding party. Including a burnout on a trailer they had brought along, the collective sawing up of tree trunks in front of the church and various dance interludes.

But Jan-Ole Jähnig and Chris Beinlich didn't let themselves get carried away and hopped on their BWM to help celebrate the 91st anniversary of the Schleizer Dreieck race. A total of 15,000 spectators were counted over the weekend.

The campsite at Buchhübel was not quite as full, but the Schleiz fans did not miss out on their summer fun. There was a certain amount of concern about the future of the race track, reported Jan Müller in the Ostthüringische Zeitung. The representatives of the Schleizer Dreieck Motorsport Club, which organises the event, were able to dispel these concerns. "Our clear objective for the coming year is to organise a world championship race for sidecars," said club chairman Jörg Langer. "And the signs are not bad at all."

Jan-Ole Jähnig from Lehndorf took victory ahead of Chris Beinlich from neighbouring Pössneck. Philipp Stich won the Supersport class, while victory in the Sportbike class went to Micky Winkler. The World Championship duo led by Swiss rider Markus Schlosser won the sidecar classification.
