Moto2 ace Filip Salac: Future secured at American Racing

As the situation regarding the final remaining places in the MotoGP World Championship for the 2027 season becomes increasingly clear, the top spots in the Moto2 World Championship will soon be allocated or confirmed once again. This has already happened in the case of Filip Salac. The 24-year-old Czech rider will spend another year with the American Racing team, majority-owned by Eitan Butbul, where he is currently teamed up with American rider Joe Roberts.

A key factor in the decision to extend Salac’s contract was his strong form in recent weeks and his performance at his home Grand Prix in Brno, where he stormed to third place. Prior to that, he had already finished second in Hungary. Salac started from second on the grid in both Hungary and the Czech Republic. The rider from Mlada Boleslav currently occupies eighth place in the World Championship standings. In total, the former Red Bull rookie (2016 to 2018) has already secured a front-row starting position four times – proof that he has the performance to deliver when it counts.

In the last five races, Salac has scored more points than the World Championship runner-up, Izan Guevara (Pramac). “I’m delighted to be able to continue with American Racing; for me, the team is like a second family and I feel at home here,” emphasised Salac, who previously rode for Marc VDS and Gresini. “We’ve already achieved some great results together in a relatively short space of time. That shows me that we’re a good fit, and I can’t wait for our future together. I think we have great opportunities ahead of us and can fight for victories. So I’m absolutely delighted, and we’ll keep pushing hard.”

“I’m delighted about the contract extension,” said Eitan Butbul. “It’s impressive how quickly Filip has settled in – in terms of the team, the environment and the team’s DNA. He’s become consistent and has overcome the setbacks we had to deal with at the start. The results from the last few races have confirmed what we’d already sensed – we’re on the right track.”
