‘Il Dottore’: Valentino Rossi hints at a start in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring

Will nine-time motorcycle world champion Valentino Rossi finally compete in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2027? During a press conference at the Spa 24 Hours, the Italian announced that he would be competing in the endurance classic in the Eifel. There, Rossi would join four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, who has already announced that he would like to take part in the race again next year.

“Yes, because it looks as though you can now sort out the permit in a single weekend,” explained Rossi regarding the permit for the Nordschleife. Rossi had previously stated on several occasions that he was not keen on having to compete in several races in slower cars first; however, the rules for the Nordschleife permit have been relaxed since last November.

The 47-year-old Italian continued: “We’re in talks with BMW to organise this, as the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring is definitely on my wish list. So I hope that, together with BMW, we’ll manage to take part in this race next year.”

The 2027 edition of the Nürburgring 24 Hours will take place from 27 to 30 May.
