For Max Verstappen: Will the 2027 Spa 24 Hours be postponed?

Yesterday, Friday, the SRO announced the dates for the 2027 racing season. The 24 Hours of Spa is set to take place once again on the last weekend in June. However, it is currently unclear whether this date will be retained, as there is a possibility the race could be rescheduled to allow Max Verstappen to take part in the classic race in the Ardennes. The Dutchman has already stated on several occasions that he would love to compete at Spa and would have done so this year too, had it not clashed with the Formula 1 race in Austria.

Stéphane Ratel emphasises, however, that more than one current Formula 1 driver has shown great interest in competing in the traditional race. Lance Stroll, who competed in the GT World Challenge Europe at Le Castellet in April, as well as championship leader and Mercedes star Kimi Antonelli, are also said to be very keen to take part.

“If we didn’t clash with Formula 1, we’d be keen – very keen indeed. If there’s anything we can do, we’ll do it,” said Ratel regarding a possible rescheduling.

“We will not be holding the race at Spa in either May or September,” Ratel concluded. “We only have a very narrow window of opportunity: we have built up a successful event on this date, which is growing year on year, and I believe this is the right date. It could be moved by a week, either a week earlier or a week later. Basically, we can say that the window is three weeks. So if there were no Formula 1 race on any of those three weekends, we might perhaps consider a rescheduling.”
