CSA Racing excluded following breach of car classification

The CSA Racing McLaren driven by Jim Pla, Arthur Rougier, Simon Gachet and James Kell will have to start the 24 Hours of Spa from the back of the field. Following qualifying, a breach of the car’s classification was identified on the British car.

In accordance with the event regulations and the Balance of Performance, the car’s ground clearance must not fall below 50 mm at any point during the race. Following qualifying, the CSA Racing McLaren was found to have a ground clearance of 45 and 42.3 mm. During the hearing, the team admitted that this was an error made whilst carrying out their own measurements.

In the third segment of qualifying, Simon Gachet sensationally set the fastest overall time in the field. Overall, the Gold Cup car finished a strong 15th on the grid in qualifying and qualified for Superpole, meaning the car must now start the race from the back of the field.
