Valentino Rossi makes history: first pole position at Misano

Valentino Rossi makes history at Misano! The nine-time Motorcycle World Champion has secured pole position for the first round of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup at Misano. This is the first time the motorsport legend has claimed the top spot on the grid in the high-calibre SRO racing series. Rossi is also the oldest driver to date to have taken pole position in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup! Valentino Rossi completed a lap of the circuit in the WRT BMW M4 GT3 in 1:32.154 minutes. Together with Max Hesse, Rossi will be aiming for his fourth victory on his home circuit in the GT World Challenge Europe in tonight’s race.

Second place went to Andrea Frassineti in the Tresor Attempto Racing Audi. The fast Italian was 0.099 seconds off Rossi’s fastest time.

Ricardo Feller, winner of the 24 Hours of Spa, completes the top three in the Lionspeed GP Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The second segment for Silver Cup and Bronze Cup cars was interrupted by a red flag after three minutes, following a spin by Dennis Marschall in the AF Corse Ferrari after contact with Felix Hirsiger.
