Jorge Prado stays with Red Bull KTM: “The best years are still ahead of us”

When Jorge Prado terminated his contract with the Kawasaki works team early in 2025, his return to KTM proved to be anything but straightforward. For example, he was unable to take part in the Motocross of Nations at the Ironman Raceway, even though he was available to ride for the Spanish team. Now, a year later, the picture is quite different: Jorge Prado is the best of the three KTM factory riders in the 450 class and sits fourth in the US Nationals standings. In the combined 450SMX standings (Supercross and Motocross), he is even third.

A logical move by KTM

Following this success story, it is only natural that Red Bull KTM offered him a new contract. Prado clearly feels at home on the KTM. His long-term goal is to compete for the championship in all disciplines of the SMX series.

Statement from Jorge Prado

“I’m very happy to have extended my contract with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing,” said the Spaniard. “We’d already achieved a lot in the MXGP in the past. This year, things went very well for me and the team in Supercross. We secured several podium finishes and two race wins, and now we’re also very strong in motocross. I’m simply delighted to be continuing to work with this fantastic team in the future. I’m very confident that we can achieve our goals.”

Team manager Ian Harrison explained: “We’re delighted that Jorge is staying with us. Our whole team is excited to see how he’ll continue to develop here in the US in Supercross and Motocross. His confidence and speed have already been exceptional. He has shown his greatest strengths particularly in the whoops. Jorge is very eager to learn and always wants to improve. We’re convinced that his best years are still ahead of him. We look forward to supporting him in the next chapter of his career.”
