Audi team looks back with satisfaction on DTM debut and aims to go on the attack on Sunday

Simon Connor Primm finished Saturday’s DTM race at the Sachsenring in 15th place. It was a satisfactory result for the guest driver in the Seyffarth Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 at his home race. The ADAC GT Masters driver is getting his first taste of the DTM in the Audi fielded by the Querfurt-based team.

“From a sporting perspective, I’m not dissatisfied. It was clear to us from the outset that it would be difficult without any preparation or prior testing opportunities on this circuit. Simon and the whole team did an excellent job in that regard. The pit stop during the race also went well, although we’d like to improve on that a little for tomorrow,” said team boss Tobias Seyffarth after Saturday’s race, speaking to Motorsport-XL.

Seyffarth continued: “We want to put in another good performance and, ultimately, be satisfied with our own performance. That’s what matters most to us. We want to keep up with the field and learn as much as possible as a team. Audi is also giving us a lot of support. What’s more, the response to our DTM campaign has been outstanding – especially here at our home race at the Sachsenring.”

Getting the Audi onto the starting grid at the undulating circuit near Chemnitz was a race against time. Internally, the team had already ruled out taking part before a last-minute opportunity arose to compete in the seventh round of the DTM season. “Yes, those were really two very intense weeks with an enormous amount of preparation. It’s not actually normal to take on something like this in such a short space of time. But Simon Connor Primm and we didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity and did everything we could to make the DTM outing possible. In the end, it worked out – and now we’re actually taking part in the DTM,” Seyffarth concluded.
