Lamborghini shock – Mirko Bortolotti disqualified

Mirko Bortolotti has lost his eighth place on the grid for the second DTM race at the Sachsenring. The Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Temerario GT3 was disqualified due to excessive turbo overboost.

The race stewards received a report from the Technical Delegate regarding Bortolotti’s car. Following Qualifying 2, the boost pressure analysis showed that the lower overboost limit had been exceeded more than twice in every lap measured. In total, it was established that the lower overboost limit was exceeded 52 times. The DTM boost pressure control strategy V12 dated 9 April 2026, in accordance with the Balance of Performance, permits the lower overboost limit to be exceeded twice per lap during qualifying.

Gottfried Grasser explained to the stewards that they were aware of the problem but were unable to resolve it. The manufacturer also confirmed that they were aware of the problem but currently had no solution for it, although they were working on it.

The Lamborghini of the 2024 DTM champion will have to start the race from the back of the grid.
