It’s all set: German Intact Moto2 team with Spanish winners

It was a closely fought battle between Moto2 championship leader Manuel Gonzalez and Senna Agius, who is just under three years his junior – with the Australian coming out on top. Just before the Austrian Grand Prix, Agius was confirmed as a MotoGP rookie with Tech3. The 21-year-old will therefore be switching to the Austrian-built prototype.

Manuel Gonzalez, who regained the championship lead following his GP victory at Misano, was once again not offered a contract for the premier class, just as in 2025. As the Madrid-born rider was also not offered a satisfactory package for the Superbike World Championship – which had been considered as an option – the consequence is clear: Moto2. And there is no reason to change here. After two successful years and a healthy, equal partnership, the championship leader will tackle another season for Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP. As a reminder: thanks to the team’s consistent performance, the Memmingen-based side leads the Moto2 Teams’ World Championship with a lead of over 100 points over the CF Moto-Aspar team.

Jürgen Lingg und David Almansa: 2027 noch engere Zusammenarbeit

The rest of the Moto2 line-up is set. Work is now underway with Peter Öttl, who has developed two winning riders in David Almansa and David Muñoz. This would have allowed Moto2 team boss Jürgen Lingg to compensate for the departure of both Moto2 riders. With Manuel Gonzalez staying on, Intact GP simply had to decide on an internal promotion – either Almansa or Muñoz.

It is not just the World Championship standings that speak volumes. Whilst Almansa has established himself in second place, Muñoz is fighting for his comeback. The background to this is the extended injury lay-off following the serious crash in Hungary. The 20-year-old would probably be well advised to make another attempt in Moto3 – and then forge his own path as a potential world champion. But patience looks rather different. As Muñoz wants to move up as quickly as possible, everything points to a split – and to David Almansa as the Moto2 rider for Intact GP for the coming season.
