Official: Calvin Vlaanderen moves from Ducati to Honda

South African Ducati works rider Calvin Vlaanderen is set to join the French team SR Motoblouz after the 2026 season. Vlaanderen is currently 11th in the standings, making him the highest-placed Ducati rider.

Ducati: A striking number of crashes

However, the two-time Grand Prix winner is still recovering from his crash at Loket. Overall, Ducati riders crash frequently. Jeremy Seewer, too, had emphasised before his move from Ducati to KTM that he had to push the Ducati beyond its limits to be fast in the MXGP.

How will Ducati line up?

One thing is certain: in 2027, Ducati will be relying on Romain Febvre, a rider with plenty of experience, to ensure they remain competitive at the very top level. Vlaanderen regularly made it into the top 10 this year.

However, it is also a fact that Vlaanderen will no longer be a factory rider in future, as SR Motoblouz is a Honda satellite team.
