Silverstone: Replica of Barry Sheene’s leather suit to be auctioned

‘Two Wheels for Life’ is organising appearances by MotoGP riders and live auctions as part of this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone. At the charity’s auctions, fans will have the chance to bid on rare memorabilia from riders and teams.

Among the prized items going under the hammer at Silverstone is a unique replica of Barry Sheene’s Dainese leather suit, designed to mark the 50th anniversary of his first of two world championship titles in 1976. The suit, which Barry’s son Freddie Sheene wore at the ‘Goodwood Festival of Speed’ in July, has been signed by racing legends Steve Parrish and Kenny Roberts.

Anyone unable to attend the event at Silverstone can bid for these memorabilia on the online auction site run by the charity ‘CharityStars’.

The funds raised will go towards programmes that support healthcare workers in delivering vital medical care to remote communities across Africa.

Two Wheels for Life is a charity run by the FIM and MotoGP. According to its own statement, the organisation raises money “to ensure that people in need in Africa have access to life-saving healthcare”.
