Ai Ogura’s (Trackhouse) injury: It was a motocross accident

The MotoGP World Championship resumes with a bang following a break of just under three weeks. Japanese World Championship contender Ai Ogura has sustained a hand injury (as reported by SPEEDWEEK.com). According to information from the Trackhouse Aprilia team, the injury is believed to be a fracture near his left thumb.

On Wednesday evening, it was reported that Ogura had been injured whilst training in Japan. Following research by SPEEDWEEK.com, it is now clear that the third-placed rider in the World Championship and Assen winner sustained the fracture whilst training on a motocross track in his home country.

Operation in Barcelona

However, Ogura did not undergo a medical examination in Japan. The 25-year-old endured the long journey back to his adopted home of Spain whilst in pain. In Barcelona, Ogura was then examined by specialist Dr Xavier Mir.

Ai Ogura is now due to undergo surgery at some point on Thursday. It is not yet clear how long his recovery will take.
