Classic Cross of Nations Culitzsch: Good races despite the bad weather

Last weekend, the Classic Cross of Nations was held on the historic MC Culitzsch circuit in Saxony as part of the ECMX European Championships. During free practice on Friday, conditions on the hard-surfaced circuit were still perfect. However, rain set in during the night leading into Saturday, turning the track into a muddy mess.

Schedule adjusted to the weather

Following the downpours in the morning, the sky cleared around midday. The first race was postponed until 2 pm. The organisers pulled out all the stops to make the track rideable again. As a result, the races were eventually held under good conditions. When it began to rain again in the late afternoon, the organisers, in consultation with the participants, decided not to start the final races. Nevertheless, regular results could be tabulated in all classes based on the races that had already been completed.

Good turnout from spectators

Despite the bad weather, the stands in Culitzsch were once again well filled. After all, Classic Motocross is not just about sporting success, but also about bringing to life the technical history of the golden era of motocross. At the closing prize-giving ceremony in the marquee, the winning teams from the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden and Germany were delighted to receive their trophies.
