Binder (11th) admits: “I didn’t have a single strong point this weekend!”

Whilst Pedro Acosta once again put in a strong performance at Misano, finishing 6th and 3rd and securing top placings for KTM, things went anything but smoothly for his team-mate Brad Binder. In qualifying, he could only manage 19th on the grid, and in the MotoGP Sprint, the South African crossed the finish line in 14th place. Binder then finished Sunday’s Grand Prix in 11th place, partly due to the many retirements ahead of him. In the final laps, he battled with Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo for a top-10 spot, but he couldn’t get past the Frenchman. He couldn’t find a way to go any faster on his RC16.
“I tried my best from start to finish. I just wasn’t quick enough,” was Binder’s sobering conclusion. “My pace was a bit better in the second half of the race. I was a bit closer then. I tried everything to find that extra bit of speed. It was a tough weekend; I would have liked to have been much more competitive here.”
