2027 MotoGP line-up: What’s been confirmed so far, and what might happen

During the Czech Republic Grand Prix in Brno, the MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group announced its agreement with the five manufacturers – Ducati, Aprilia, KTM, Honda and Yamaha – for the years 2027 to 2031. This milestone paved the way for the official announcements regarding which riders will be competing for which teams next year – when the new MotoGP rules come into force. This was followed by the official confirmation of the eleven teams involved – meaning that binding agreements with the key riders at the handlebars of the MotoGP bikes can now be finalised.

Most riders have already secured their futures beyond 2026. The picture is clear in many pits, though in most cases the official confirmations are still pending. Aprilia Racing took the lead in this regard – even before the Sepang test in early February, the Italians announced that Marco Bezzecchi would remain on an RS-GP for the next two years. Johann Zarco (LCR Honda) and Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pramac Yamaha) are the exceptions – before the transfer merry-go-round began to turn, both already had contracts for 2027 in the bag. Rookie and Moto2 World Champion Diogo Moreira is also in a relaxed position – he has signed a three-year contract with HRC.

Ducati Lenovo for 2027 and 2028 with Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta (both confirmed)

Of the unconfirmed cases, the Ducati Lenovo team kicked things off this week. Champion Marc Marquez has extended his contract by two years. His new team-mate for 2027 and 2028 will be Pedro Acosta. Pecco Bagnaia was officially bid farewell on 24 June – the two-time MotoGP world champion is on a farewell tour with the Reds and his beloved Desmosedici for the remaining race weekends of 2026.

Pecco Bagnaia’s future has also long been secured – the Italian will ride an Aprilia RS-GP for the next two years and be the team-mate of his VR46 mate Marco Bezzecchi. The official confirmation came on Thursday ahead of the MotoGP weekend at Assen.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing: Alex Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio (neither confirmed)

It is also considered a done deal that the KTM factory team will be restructuring its rider line-up with Alex Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio. For the two Ducati satellite riders, this fulfils their wish to ride for a factory team. Neither of these new signings has been confirmed as yet. As things stand, long-serving KTM rider Brad Binder will have to look for a new role in the World Superbike Championship. However, the South African could also find a place at Tech3.

Honda HRC Castrol: Fabio Quartararo and Diogo Moreira or David Alonso (not yet confirmed)

Honda’s factory team will also be fielding new riders next year. A frustrated Fabio Quartararo is set to make the move from Yamaha to their Japanese rivals. The Frenchman has high hopes of competing for victories once again with the most successful brand in MotoGP. His team-mate could be a rookie. The Colombian David Alonso, the 2024 Moto3 World Champion, currently stands the best chance. The rider line-up has not yet been confirmed. Or, given recent performances: Honda may promote Diogo Moreira to the factory team and let Alonso learn the ropes alongside Johann Zarco at LCR. Joan Mir and Luca Marini are set to leave Honda’s MotoGP project at the end of the year.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP: Ai Ogura and Jorge Martin (neither confirmed)

The new rider line-up for the Yamaha works team for 2027 is also not yet official. However, the duo is set to consist of the Japanese rider Ai Ogura and the Spaniard Jorge Martin. This will be Ogura’s first time in a factory team, whilst Martin is embarking on a new project. It remains to be seen whether the ‘Martinator’ will find success at Yamaha. Quartararo will find a new home at Honda, whilst there will be no place left for Alex Rins in MotoGP in 2027.

Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team: Fermin Aldeguer and Nicolo Bulega (neither confirmed)

Fermin Aldeguer will continue to ride a Ducati next year – though no longer for Gresini Racing, but for Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Racing team. His team-mate there will be Superbike series winner Nicolo Bulega. Neither deal has yet been confirmed.

BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP: Joan Mir and Daniel Holgado (neither confirmed)

With runner-up Alex Márquez and Fermin Aldeguer set to leave Gresini Racing at the end of the year, the Italian outfit will also need to rebuild its line-up for 2027. Joan Mir, the 2020 MotoGP World Champion, is set to join Gresini next year. His team-mate is expected to be Moto2 ace Daniel Holgado.

Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP: Toprak Razgatlioglu (confirmed) and Izan Guevara (unconfirmed)

Toprak Razgatlioglu also has a contract for 2027. His team-mate at Pramac Yamaha could be Izan Guevara. The young Spaniard is currently racing in the Moto2 World Championship for the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha team. He has been performing strongly this year and is currently second in the overall standings. An internal promotion for Guevara would be a logical move, not least to underpin the credibility of Yamaha’s youth development programme.

Superfile Trackhouse MotoGP Team: Raul Fernandez and Enea Bastianini (neither confirmed)

There is currently much discussion about whether Raul Fernandez will remain with the Trackhouse team, but it would make sense to keep the Spaniard in their ranks – especially as he is also putting in strong performances this season. Moto2 stars Senna Agius and Manuel Gonzalez have also put themselves forward for his place. The second rider at Trackhouse will be Enea Bastianini – the Italian is set to move from KTM Tech3 to the US-based team. Nothing has been confirmed as yet.

LCR Honda: Johann Zarco and Diogo Moreira (both confirmed)

The rider line-up for the LCR Honda team is effectively set in stone. The long-established team will continue to rely on the services of veteran Johann Zarco in 2027. Diogo Moreira is also considered a certainty, unless the youngster is promoted to the Honda works team next year. Given his strong performances at present, that would be a possibility. In return, David Alonso would be transferred to the LCR team.

Red Bull KTM Tech3: Maverick Viñales, Brad Binder, Senna Agius or Manuel González (unconfirmed)

The biggest unknown at present is KTM Tech3. Günther Steiner’s team would like to continue with veteran rider Maverick Viñales in 2027, but has not yet ruled out Brad Binder entirely, partly because no other rider has more experience with the RC16 in race conditions. Both are still fighting for their futures as MotoGP riders. The second RC16 is set to go to a rookie. Australian Senna Agius from Jürgen Lingg’s Intact team is a strong contender. However, Moto2 World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez is also said to be under consideration.
