You don’t see that very often: Toprak Razgatlioglu on a motocross bike

Whether on holiday or between Grand Prix races, Toprak Razgatlioglu is often spotted riding all sorts of different vehicles. Be it a rally car, quad bike, jet ski or pit bike – the Superbike World Champion enjoys anything with an engine.

Last weekend, however, Toprak was out and about on a vehicle you don’t often see him on – a motocross bike. Whilst MX training and off-road sessions are standard fare for many MotoGP riders – such as Marc Marquez or Pedro Acosta – Toprak usually takes a different approach to his training.

The Turkish rider posted a video of the motocross session on his Instagram channel. He was riding a Yamaha YZ450F, a ‘big bike’. He captioned the post: ‘Motocross – after a long time’.

Motocross is a great way to keep physically fit and work on your technique – or simply to have fun. For this reason, training sessions on an MX bike are very popular amongst GP riders. The downside is the risk of injury. For example, Ai Ogura injured his left hand whilst training on a motocross bike in his native Japan ahead of the Aragon GP. It remains to be seen whether the Trackhouse Aprilia rider will be back in action at Misano.
