2027 Speedway Grand Prix: Eleven of the 15 riders are confirmed – the picture is becoming clearer

With the 2026 World Championship now over, it is confirmed that, alongside medallists Robert Lambert, Bartosz Zmarzlik and Brady Kurtz, Michael Jepsen Jensen, Patryk Dudek, Leon Madsen and Max Fricke have also secured their places in the 2027 Grand Prix.

Joining them from the Challenge are Kacper Woryna, newcomer Rohan Tungate and Kim Nilsson. As winner Robert Lambert is automatically qualified as world champion, Latvian Andzejs Lebedevs moves up to fifth place.

The final sporting qualification place would go to the European Speedway Champion, but only if he is not already a seeded rider. Of the current top four, only Maciej Janowski is in contention – should Michael Jepsen Jensen, Kacper Woryna or Leon Madsen become champion, that place would be forfeited and four permanent wildcards would be awarded for 2027 instead of three.

Three hot wildcard candidates for the 2027 SGP

The hottest candidates for the permanent wildcards are England’s Dan Bewley, Sweden’s Fredrik Lindgren and Australia’s Jack Holder, who are among the world’s best speedway riders but have been sidelined by injury for much of this season. From a national perspective, they also make sense for promoter Mayfield, as they come from very important markets. They are also all supported by series sponsor Monster. One rider who will certainly not be taking part is former world champion Jason Doyle, who failed to qualify and has already withdrawn.

The chances of seeing a German rider in the Grand Prix in 2027 are virtually zero. This is because Kai Huckenbeck failed to qualify in the Challenge following a crash, and there are no longer any World Championship races held in Germany.
