World Superbike Championship Magny-Cours, Race 2 grid: Sam Lowes (Ducati) penalised twice

In the first SBK race on Saturday and the sprint race on Sunday, the riders will start in the order determined by the Superpole results. For the second main race on Sunday, which starts at 2 pm at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, there will be a revised starting grid. The top nine finishers from the sprint race will occupy the first three rows of the grid. The remaining riders, who will start the second race from 10th place onwards, will be positioned according to their Superpole results.

If, for example, the Superpole winner crashes in the sprint race, he will, in the worst-case scenario, drop back to 10th on the grid for the second race. The biggest loser is Sam Lowes from the Marc VDS private Ducati team, who crashed whilst in third place in the Superpole race and must therefore drop back eight places from second on the grid. The biggest beneficiary in central France is Yamaha rider Remy Gardner, who moves up four places to ninth on the grid.

Absent this weekend is the injured Ducati privateer Tarran Mackenzie, who did not receive medical clearance to race following his horrific crash at Donington Park. Also injured is Bahattin Sofuofglu from the Yamaha Motoxracing team, who suffered a heavy crash during FP2 on Friday.
