A total of more than 70 potential entries were received – a clear sign of the great interest in the return of junior Formula racing to Germany. Ultimately, 14 teams from eight nations were selected for the 2027 season. Four of these are from Germany, including new projects that will provide a further boost to the German motorsport scene.

Three teams have opted for the maximum possible allocation of four cars. Two of these had already competed in the Formula Winter Series organised by GEDLICH Racing on the Iberian Peninsula.

Van Amersfoort Racing will compete in the F4 German Championship with four cars. Mathilda Racing is continuing its rapid growth following its debut in the 2026 Formula Winter Series. The German team is further expanding its involvement in junior formula racing and will also field four cars in the series. The team is led by experienced Nürburgring driver Michael Paatz, father of F1 Academy star Mathilda Paatz.

VANWALL F4 Racing is a newly established project that can draw on decades of experience and expertise in motorsport. The project is led by Colin Kolles and team principal Trevor Carlin. The team will operate from the ByKOLLES base, from which activities in endurance racing and the development of road-legal hypercars are also managed. Kolles’ long-standing experience at the very highest level of motorsport – including in Formula 1 and the DTM – combined with Carlin’s extensive expertise in formula racing, make the four-car programme one of the most exciting new projects for 2027.

Established names and ambitious new projects bolster the championship

LN4 Fusion, the team co-founded by Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris, has expanded its plans for 2027 and will also compete in the F4 German Championship. Norris himself has already won Formula 4 races in Germany. Now, the team that bears his name aims to build on these successes.

Jenzer Motorsport will also be competing in the inaugural season of the new F4 Germany. The renowned Swiss team has so far been represented in every edition of the Formula Winter Series and previously completed seven seasons in the former ADAC Formula 4.

Teams from the Formula Winter Series bolster the F4 Germany starting grid

A number of other teams already familiar from the Formula Winter Series will also be represented in F4 Germany. Step Motorsport, Renauer Motorsport, CRAM and AS Motorsport all competed in the 2026 FWS season and will further raise the sporting standard of the 2027 F4 Germany starting grid.

Two new names will also be joining the German contingent in the paddock.

Sports car driver Laurents Hörr will oversee a multi-car programme for Dutt Motorsport. The Stuttgart-based team is currently competing in its first Formula 4 season and had announced its intention early on to compete in F4 Germany in future. At the same time, drive.solutions will make its Formula 4 debut in F4 Germany. The team is led by experienced racing driver Sascha Herz and has extensive experience in preparing formula cars for circuit and hillclimb racing.

Two Belgian teams – the DTM team Comtoyou Racing and PK Carsport – will also be competing; both have previously been active primarily in GT and touring car racing. With their new Formula 4 projects, both teams are opening a new chapter in their respective motorsport histories.

The team was co-founded by experienced motorsport promoter Mauricio Slaviero and racing star Augusto Farfus and will now compete in the FIA-certified Formula 4 championship. Building on the driver agency FS Management run by the Brazilian duo, the team aims to provide a platform for promising young talent right from its first season.

Robin Selbach of GEDLICH Racing says: “The enormous interest in our F4 German Championship is a clear sign of just how great the demand is for a strong junior formula series in Germany and the region. Enquiries for more than 70 potential cars have exceeded our internal expectations and enabled us to put together an extremely exciting field of entrants for the first season. There are still more than six months to go until the first race – and the anticipation is already huge!”
