German TT in Schleiz – Action at the Dreieck with former world champion Jörg Teuchert

“The very best in racing action is on the programme this weekend at the Schleizer Dreieck,” is how the organisers describe their plans for the coming weekend. The International Bike Promotion Championship (IBPM) can look back on 20 years of history at this traditional Thuringian circuit and is celebrating this with an extensive racing programme featuring 20 races. The programme features the IBPM’s regular classes: Superbike Open, Supersport Open, Supersport Next Generation and the BMW RR Cup. There will also be appearances by the youngsters from the Yamaha R7 Cup, two Classic Superbike races and a total of four races featuring the two-stroke bikes of the IG Königsklasse. The programme is rounded off by the Twin Cup, familiar to many from the supporting programme of the former IDM, which now operates as Euro Moto and has not raced in Thuringia since this year.

After all, we are following in the IDM’s footsteps and intend to do it justice.

There are plenty of familiar names in the well-filled starting grids, led by former world champion Jörg Teuchert in the IBPM Superbike Open and the new social media star René Liebschner, whose botched burnout attempt at the 91st Schleizer Dreieck race went viral and has already been viewed almost 4 million times. He’s competing in the IBPM Supersport Open. Local riders include Philipp Stich, Mario Paura, Diana Spalteholz, Uwe Elschner, Micky Winkler and Justin Hänse. The latter two usually compete in the Euro Moto series.

Organiser Michael Dangrieß from MAXX Adrenalin: “Our riders are really looking forward to the Schleizer Dreieck; for many, it’s the absolute highlight of the season. From a sporting perspective, we’re set to see some great battles and races; the fields are packed to the brim and the riders are absolutely raring to race in front of a crowd like the one in Schleiz. After all, we’re following in the footsteps of the IDM on this occasion and we all want to do it justice. Some of our top riders, such as Danijel Peric and Norick Tschauder, are back on the starting grid after a break, so things are set to get really heated. There’s plenty to see in the paddocks, the merchandise stalls are looking forward to welcoming visitors, and there’ll be plenty of food and drink on offer. So there are plenty of reasons to make the pilgrimage to Schleiz this weekend. Tickets are available at the box office, and every visitor is warmly welcome.”
