Jeffrey Herlings and Sacha Coenen win the Keiheuvel International

Several World Championship contenders took advantage of the Grand Prix break to compete in the sand at Balen in the Keiheuvel International. Dutch HRC factory rider and MXGP World Championship leader Jeffrey Herlings dominated both races and won convincingly. ‘The Bullet’ won the first race with a 44-second lead over his compatriot Kay de Wolf (Husqvarna), Red Bull KTM factory rider Andrea Adamo and Glenn Coldenhoff (Yamaha). Herlings once again won the second race in commanding fashion, finishing 21 seconds ahead. Kawasaki works rider Pauls Jonass returned to competition following the concussion he sustained in England and finished the second race in 5th place.

MX2: Sacha Coenen dominates

Despite having undergone surgery on his collarbone less than four weeks ago, local hero and Red Bull KTM factory rider Sacha Coenen competed in his home club’s race and won both heats. He won the first race with a lead of 7.4 seconds over Yamaha factory rider Janis Reisulis. In the second race, Sacha finished 3.5 seconds ahead of Husqvarna factory rider Liam Everts, who took second place on the podium with a 3-2 result.

Cairoli finishes fourth twice on the 250

Antonio Cairoli rounded off his guest appearance on the Ducati Desmo250MX with two impressive fourth-place finishes. In the second race, the Sicilian was just 11 seconds off the lead.
