Shanghai: Camden Mc Lellan (Triumph) wins Race 1 ahead of Simon Längenfelder

First race of the MX2 class in Shanghai (China): Defending German champion Simon Längenfelder (KTM) took the holeshot in the first race ahead of Sacha Coenen (KTM), Julius Mikula (KTM), Camden Mc Lellan and Liam Everts. World Championship leader Guillem Farres started the race in 6th place. Mikula crashed after landing a jump and nearly took Mc Lellan down with him. The Czech rider was lucky not to be hit by the riders behind him.

Guillem Farres battled

Farres fought his way forward step by step. There was several exchanges of position between Coenen and Mc Lellan. In the end, the South African came out on top. At the front, Längenfelder led the race for 15 laps. In the final laps, Mc Lellan closed the gap and overtook the German to take the lead. Farres was in third place behind Mc Lellan and Längenfelder, but the Spaniard lost control in the left-hand hairpin before the finish line and crashed, meaning Liam Everts inherited third place. McLellan won the first race by a margin of 1.5 seconds ahead of Simon Längenfelder, Liam Everts and Guillem Farres. Sacha Coenen finished in fifth place. As a result, Farres’s lead was reduced from 52 to 45 points.
