Afyonkarahisar: Guillem Farres (Triumph) wins MX2 qualifying race

Qualifying race for the MXGP of Turkiye in Afyonkarahisar: Belgian Red Bull KTM works rider Sacha Coenen was the fastest in qualifying and started from pole position. World Championship leader Guillem Farres (Triumph), whose face still bears the marks of his heavy crash in Sweden, started the race from fifth place.

Guillem Farres determined

Sacha Coenen took the holeshot. Kay Karssemakers came to a standstill at the start and tried to push his Kawasaki forward. Guillem Farres (Triumph) started around fourth position but overtook Simon Längenfelder (KTM) and Liam Everts (Husqvarna) on the outside lines. The Spaniard wasted no time, got straight down to business and, on the very first lap, fought his way past the Belgian to take the lead. Although Coenen was able to follow Farres, he couldn’t get close enough to launch an attack.

Guillem Farres won with a lead of 1.8 seconds over Coenen, Everts and Längenfelder. Guillem Farres thus extended his lead from 25 to 26 points.

Längenfelder in 4th place

Defending champion Simon Längenfeder crossed the line in 4th place, 14 seconds behind. Camden Mc Lellan, who is ranked ahead of the German in the standings, finished in 5th place.
