After Lone Star Le Mans: A look at the FIA WEC championship standings

The fifth race weekend of the 2026 FIA WEC came to an end last weekend. Victory in the Lone Star Le Mans race in Austin, Texas (USA) went to Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen in the Ferrari 499P. The trio now sit in seventh place in the standings. Robin Frijns and René Rast remain at the top of the standings – despite scoring zero points in Austin. Prior to that, the BMW M Hybrid V8 drivers secured second place at Le Mans, victory at Spa-Francorchamps, fifth place at Imola and eighth place at Interlagos. They currently have 75 points.

Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries in the Toyota TR010 Hybrid also have 75 points. Their highlight was undoubtedly victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Sheldon van der Linde, who shares the #20 BMW with Frijns and Rast, is third in the standings. He missed the Imola round and has accumulated a total of 65 points.

Currently in fourth place are Brendon Hartley, Ryo Hirakawa and Sébastien Buemi, who drive the second Toyota. Their highlights were victory at the season opener in Imola and third place at Le Mans. They have 64 points. Rounding off the top five are James Calado, Antonio Giovinazzi and Alessandro Pier Guidi in the second works Ferrari 499P with 58 points. They finished second at Imola and in Brazil.

In the manufacturers’ championship, the rule is that two cars per make are counted. Privately entered cars (currently, that is, only the yellow Ferrari 499P from AF Corse) are not eligible for points. Toyota leads the manufacturers’ championship with 140 points, whilst BMW is in second place with 131 points, ahead of Ferrari on 114 points and Cadillac on 80 points. Alpine has collected 66 points and sits in fifth place. The next FIA WEC race is scheduled for 27 September 2026 in Fuji, Japan.
