Agueda: Lucas Coenen (Red Bull KTM) starts from pole

MXGP qualifying race for the Grand Prix of Portugal in Agueda, Round 10 of the 2026 Motocross World Championship: Belgian World Championship leader Lucas Coenen was the fastest in qualifying and started from pole position ahead of the two HRC factory riders, Jeffrey Herlings and Ruben Fernandez. There are no German or Austrian riders competing in Portugal.

Lucas Coenen secures a start-to-finish victory

World Championship leader Lucas Coenen (KTM) took the holeshot just ahead of Andrea Adamo, Ruben Fernandez and Jeffrey Herlings. Herlings attacked right from the start and quickly moved into second place. In the final five minutes of the race, Herlings appeared to be launching a final attack and was at times right on Coenen’s tail. But then the riders who had been lapped came into play. Herlings lost touch slightly and was unable to get back within striking distance of the lead. Lucas Coenen won with a lead of 4.3 seconds over Herlings, Fernandez, Febvre and Gajser. Swiss MX-Handel Husqvarna rider Kevin Brumann finished the race in 15th place.

Standings at the top of the World Championship

With this victory, Lucas Coenen extended his lead at the top of the standings by one point and now leads by 57 points ahead of Jeffrey Herlings.
