Now official: Enea Bastianini is moving to Trackhouse-Aprilia in 2027

It has long since ceased to be a surprise, but now it has been officially confirmed: Enea Bastianini will ride for the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team in the 2027 MotoGP season. The US team confirmed on Monday that the Italian had signed a contract for the next two years.

Signs that Bastianini would be moving to Trackhouse had been evident for weeks. The deal has now been officially announced. The 28-year-old will be team-mate to Raul Fernandez at the Aprilia team, whose contract has already been extended for the next two MotoGP seasons.

For Bastianini, this marks the start of the next chapter in his MotoGP career. The 2020 Moto2 World Champion made the step up to the premier class in 2021 and caused a stir in his rookie season with two podium finishes. ‘La Bestia’ celebrated his breakthrough a year later: with four Grand Prix victories, he was in contention for the world title for much of the season and finished the 2022 season in third place overall.

After a 2023 season marred by injuries, Bastianini bounced back in 2024 with two GP victories and a fourth-place finish in the World Championship. For 2025, he switched from Ducati to Tech3-KTM. After two years with the Austrian team, he is now set to move to the Aprilia RS-GP.

First Aprilia test in three months

The timing presents an additional challenge. Bastianini is switching manufacturers right at the start of the new MotoGP era. From 2027, 850cc engines will be used instead of 1000cc ones, Pirelli will replace Michelin as the sole tyre supplier, and the technical regulations will also undergo extensive changes.

“I’m really looking forward to racing for the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team over the next two MotoGP seasons,” said Bastianini. He will begin working with his new team as early as the test following the season finale in Valencia.

The Italian is well aware that the change of manufacturer takes on a whole new dimension due to the new regulations. “It will be a completely new challenge for me, as we’re entering a new era with a new bike, new tyres and new rules.”

Bastianini is keen to bring his experience from six years in MotoGP to the table. “I’m looking forward to bringing my experience and fighting spirit to Trackhouse so that, together, we can develop the new Aprilia RS-GP.”

The fact that Trackhouse has managed to close the gap on the MotoGP frontrunners in 2026 also played a part in Bastianini’s decision. “The team has developed strongly over the course of 2026 and has become a title contender. I will definitely give my all to ensure we stay at the top.”

Why Trackhouse is backing Bastianini

Trackhouse owner Justin Marks was also delighted with the high-profile new signing. “It’s a very exciting moment for the SuperFile Trackhouse Team to welcome someone like Enea to our Aprilia,” explained the American.

Marks highlighted, above all, his future rider’s experience and proven track record. “His racing CV, his MotoGP victories and his experience at the very highest level create the perfect scenario for a racing team that we all believe is on the verge of something big.”
