German Speedway Bundesliga: Wittstock taught Stralsund a lesson

The hosts from Wittstock put in a strong, united performance. Particular mention must go to Jonas Knudsen, who scored 14+2 points, and Marko Levishyn, who also put in a consistently strong performance with 13+2 points. The young German rider Janek Konzack also impressed with 10+3 points and was a key component of the Wolves’ team dynamic.

With this home victory, the Wolves have moved to the top of the table after four of the six races to be contested. At the same time, they continued the run whereby the home team has always been successful so far this year. Furthermore, the team from Wittstock matched the result with which MC Nordstern Stralsund had triumphed in their first meeting at the Paul-Greifzu-Stadion.

MC Nordstern fielded three Polish riders and struggled for much of the evening. Jakub Jamrog was the visitors’ standout performer with 12+2 points, producing both strong and inconsistent rides. Jacob Thorssell also contributed 12 points, whilst Lars Skupien and Jakub Zurek had a difficult evening.

The decisive moments of the race came after half-time. Although Wittstock took the lead right at the start, the visitors managed to fight their way back to 18:18 by the midway point of the heats. After that, the home side pulled decisively ahead, thanks in part to two clear 5:1 victories, and significantly extended their lead in the final heats.

In terms of the Bundesliga table, this result means that the Wolves from Wittstock now lead on 4 match points and must wait to see how the other two teams fare in Stralsund on 19 September before travelling to Güstrow for the final race on 9 October.
