BMW shock: Kelvin van der Linde loses pole position at Magny-Cours!

Kelvin van der Linde and WRT have lost pole position for the second race of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup. The South African had initially secured his first pole position in the Sprint Cup of the high-calibre SRO racing series.

The SRO technical stewards determined that the car had, on several occasions, had a boost pressure that was 10 mbar higher than permitted. As a result, the BMW M4 GT3 had excessive engine power. A team representative explained at the hearing with the stewards that the problem had arisen due to a team error in specifying the air pressure.

The SRO subsequently struck all of the car’s lap times from the records, meaning the #32 car must start from the back of the grid.

Pole position therefore goes to Nicki Thiim in the Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin, ahead of Christopher Haase in the Eastalent Racing Audi.
