GT World: BMW drivers clinch Silver Cup overall title early

Matisse Lismont and Ignacio Montenegro have secured the Silver Cup title in the GT World Challenge Europe ahead of schedule. The two WRT drivers are therefore champions ahead of schedule in the combined overall standings comprising the Endurance Cup and the Sprint Cup.

Back in late August, Lismont and Montenegro, together with Amaury Cordeel, had already clinched the title in the Silver Cup classification of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup ahead of schedule.

In the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, Lismont and Montenegro have so far secured five wins from seven races in their WRT BMW M4 GT3 and claimed four pole positions. By way of comparison, in the Endurance Cup they secured the title ahead of schedule without a single win.

In the Silver Cup standings of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, the WRT team’s drivers currently hold a 48.5-point lead over the Walkenhorst Motorsport duo of Jamie Day and Mateo Villagomez. If they have a lead of more than 35 points after the second race at Zandvoort this Sunday, they will also clinch the championship title early in the Sprint competition.
