Red Bull Ferrari win second GT World Challenge race at Zandvoort

Emil Frey Racing celebrates another victory at Zandvoort and its first GT World Challenge Europe win since Hockenheim 2024. Thierry Vermeulen, who is sponsored by Max Verstappen, and Ben Green win the second race of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup at Zandvoort.

Second place went to Bastian Buus and Ricardo Feller in the Lionspeed GP Porsche 911 GT3 R, who thereby took the lead in the Sprint Cup standings. They finished 3.700 seconds behind the winning Ferrari after one hour of racing.

Konsta Lappalainen and Matteo Cairoli completed the podium in the second Emil Frey Racing Ferrari.

On the opening lap, Christopher Haase and Kobe Pauwels spun in the first steep corner. Whilst Pauwels was able to continue, Haase retired. The safety car was deployed onto the track. Pauwels retired in the pits a few laps later.

A few laps after the restart, DTM driver Nicolas Baert in the Lionspeed GP Porsche collided with Jop Rappange in the KPX Racing BMW M4 GT3. The Porsche’s suspension was damaged in the incident. At Turn 10, the Porsche subsequently skidded into the gravel trap and had to be recovered; the race was neutralised.

After the mandatory pit stop, Thomas Fleming in the Garage 59 McLaren nudged Amaury Cordeel’s WRT BMW M4 GT3 before the first steep bend; Cordeel subsequently lost control and spun into the barrier. The WRT driver was able to continue the race before parking the car in the pits a few laps later. Fleming received a 10-second stop-and-go penalty for the incident, causing him to lose the lead in the Gold Cup.
