2027 Superbike World Championship calendar confirmed: Twelve events including China – but no Germany

The venues for the 2027 Superbike World Championship are as announced by SPEEDWEEK.com. All the dates are now confirmed: the season runs from mid-February in Australia to the end of October in China.

Following the publication of the Formula 1 and MotoGP calendars for 2027, the Superbike World Championship and its supporting series are following suit. Whilst the Superbike and Supersport classes will feature at all venues, the Sportbike and Women’s classes will only compete at selected events.

SPEEDWEEK.com has reported extensively in the run-up to the 2027 season; it has long been clear that ten circuits from this year’s calendar will remain. It has also become apparent that Hungary is being dropped and replaced by China. Unsurprisingly, the Shanghai International Circuit was awarded the contract. MotoGP raced there four times between 2005 and 2008, but for SBK it is uncharted territory.

With Kove, QJ Motor and the new ZX Moto brand – which has enjoyed great success in the Supersport World Championship – three manufacturers from China are already represented in the SBK paddock, whilst CF Moto is working on its entry for 2027. Whilst ZX Moto promises a spectacular home race, Kove will not be taking part: this brand competes only in the Sportbike class, but for cost reasons, only the two main categories – Superbike and Supersport – are included in overseas races.

Also new to the calendar is the return of Valencia, which previously hosted races from 2000 to 2010. Valencia replaces Jerez because the pit complex there is due to undergo a major and lengthy refurbishment next year.

German SBK fans will have to look elsewhere

In 2027, German fans will once again have to head to neighbouring countries such as the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, or to Cremona in northern Italy. The production-based World Motorcycle Championship last visited the Lausitzring in 2017, and a return to Germany is not on the cards. Good news for campers: Most (Brüx) in northern Bohemia has moved in the calendar from mid-May to the first weekend in June.

In the medium term, the calendar is set to expand to up to 14 events under the new owner, Liberty. Now that the milestone of China has been achieved, the USA is at the top of the wish list for 2028. There is regular dialogue with Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama – a two-hour drive west of Atlanta – but the Americans have not yet taken the final step towards signing a contract. This is partly because a pit complex still needs to be built there. Ideally, the event in the US would be combined with one in Mexico, at a new circuit near Cancún.

The only official pre-season test for the Superbike and Supersport classes is scheduled for Phillip Island on 15–16 February, on the Monday and Tuesday before the race weekend. In 2027, the SBK will visit the picturesque island near Melbourne for the last time; from 2028, races will be held at The Bend near Adelaide.
