Dominique Aegerter’s (Kawasaki) plans for Estoril
Even though his partnership with Kawasaki is set to end after just one Supersport season, Dominique Aegerter is keen to make a strong impression. The Swiss rider knows exactly how to achieve this.

Dominique Aegerter has completed ten rounds of the 2026 Supersport World Championship with Kawasaki, with limited success. A sixth-place finish in the first race at Assen was his best result; otherwise, his results have mostly hovered around 15th place. It was only at Cremona two weeks ago that the rider, who turned 36 on 30 September, managed a second single-digit finish, coming ninth in the first race.
This is not enough for Kawasaki, for the Puccetti team, or for a two-time Supersport World Champion. It has therefore been clear for weeks that the partnership will not be continued.
For Aegerter, the aim is to finish the season with dignity and total commitment. The rounds at Estoril and Jerez in October will mark the end of the season. “This weekend sees the penultimate round of the championship already upon us. It’s hard to believe how quickly a year goes by,” said the rider with 27 Supersport wins on a Yamaha. “But I’m really looking forward to Estoril, because I really like the circuit. I know it well from previous years and it’s great fun, especially because of its varied layout with very fast sections and a few slower corners.”
For some time now, Aegerter has been making small strides in getting to grips with the ZX-6R 636. “In Cremona we were a bit more competitive, which allowed us to set a great pace in Race 2. But as always, it’s all about getting off to a very good start on Friday,” says the Rohrbach rider. “That means putting in a good FP1 and then delivering a strong Superpole, which leads to a starting position in at least the first three rows. That’s my first target for Estoril, which will make life easier for me in the first race on Saturday so I can achieve a strong result.”
Finishing the 2026 season in the top 15 is only mathematically possible for Aegerter.
Aegerter is currently 18th in the World Championship standings with 49 points. With solid performances at the last two World Championship events, the Kawasaki rider could realistically still improve his position by two places. To do so, he would need to make up seven points on Federico Caricasulo (ZX Moto) and 18 points on Mattia Casadei (Ducati).
